The lock-in is one day away and it will be so much fun!! Big games, small games, midnight pizza, snacks, board games, movies…I can’t wait. So far, we have 18 students coming, but you can still come if you haven’t told me yet! Just send me an email or text today and show up tomorrow night at 8pm with the permission form and medical forms (off the website) and $10!

After a fantastic vacation with the family, Jaquie and I are back in town. We hope you had just as good a weekend as we did. Summer is officially here and the good times have begun! There is so much going on that I will not spend any time rambling before getting to what you need to know for the next week…but know that as the summer goes along, we will be treating all students as if they are still in the grade they just finished (for example, graduated seniors are still welcome at everything! students who just finished 8th grade are still in middle school and the rising 6th graders are still in 5th grade. As far as the youth group is concerned, everyone will move up (for all programs) on August 12th).

Tonight! Come hangout in the Attic from 5:30-7pm for some fellowship time. Bring a dinner if you want, and/or a board game to play.
Lock-In!!!! This Friday night (in 2 days!) we are having our first big summer event. All grades are welcome and it begins at 8pm ($10). If you have not turned in a permission form and new medical form yet, you can bring them tonight OR email me that you will be there and bring them Friday.

Summer Bible Study begins this Sunday night! 5:30-7:30 the Attic is open and Bible Study will be from 6-7. All grades together, and with a special Brainstorm session after this weeks Bible Study to discuss ideas for the youth group going forward.

Summer Lunch Program: Any time you see this on our summer calendar, we are helping the the MUST summer lunch program. We’ll need atleast 3 volunteers here from 9am-2pm. Bring a book or something to do during some down time.

Next week: On Tuesday, we will have Open Attic from 11-1 on Tuesday(remember, this means you can bring a lunch, game, anything to do as you fellowship with the group!), and Wing-It Wednesday will be dinner at Lulu’s (formerly Buffalo’s). Meet at Lulu’s at 5:30pm.

Adult volunteers need for summer activities! If any adults ever want to come to anything you we do, you are always welcome, but I definitely need some for sure chaperones for the events listed on the permission slip. Please come when you want to to anything else (such as Bible Study, Open Attic, or Wing-It Wednesday), but let me know ASAP if you can come to the other events.

Culebra Bake Sale will continue ing June! Each of the first 3 Sundays will have a bake sale in the gathering area as we did twice already. Please buy some sweets to support the team, or bake something and drop it off at the table to help out!
Also, the Culebra Mission Team will be working the Sonic’s over in front of Publix on Tuesday, June 5th from 5-8pm. All tips will go to the team and 10% of sales! Pick up a flyer this Sunday to turn in with your purchase at Sonics.

Fall volunteers are needed! I will soon be asking individuals, but if you (an adult) would like to be more involved with the youth group this fall, let me know. Our programs will look a bit different, but we need adults willing to help with Wednesday night Bible Study, willing to come to Rendezvous, and willing to lead small groups (which will look different from what they have been).

Hang in there for one more week students, then you are free. While the semester may be winding down, I feel busy as ever. Jaquie and I moved into a house we are renting this weekend (same area as our old apartment) and love the new place! It is still growing on Bailey though, she seems a little stressed out by the change. But, we get to head to the beach this weekend for a time to relax. I will be out of the office from Friday until next Wednesday. As always, if you really really need me, my phone number is below. Since you will not get a weekly update until next Wednesday, here is what you need to get by:

No Wednesday night programs this week! (May 23rd) Recharge has ended and Wing-It Wednesday will not kick off until May 30th.

No Youth programs Sunday night! (May 27th) I will be out, many of you are also traveling, and its always nice to spend some time with your family. Go have a cookout for Memorial Day! There will be Sunday School classes on this day.

Wing-It Wednesday – May 30th, 5:30-7pm in the Attic, just come and hangout! We’ll play some board and video games, put a TV show up on the big screen and relax as summer sets in. Feel free to bring your dinner if you aren’t eating before or after.

Summer Events: The calendar is online and on my bulletin board. Sign up sheets for events that need them are in these places as well. Please let me know if you have a question about what is happening this summer.

Summer HS Sunday School: We are giving Wally a much deserved break from the 11am Sunday School class these next 2 months. If you would like to take a turn teaching a week, please let me know! We could use a few more volunteers.

Congratulations to all the Seniors! I am proud of you all and hope you enjoy your graduation weekend a lot. Jaquie and I very much wish we would be in town to see ya’ll walk, but when you are getting 4 different households in your family together for vacations, it is hard to find a perfect dayte. Don’t eat too much cake at the first party you go to or you won’t have room for anything at the next!

Once again, a big thank you to all the mothers out there for all you do for us! I hope your kids did a good job honoring you this weekend. We took my mom to a hibachi restaurant for lunch yesterday which she enjoyed, and it ended with Bobby Cox holding the door for us on the way out, which I thought was awesome! But as we roll along, I know that everyone’s lives seem to get busier each day. To help with that, our whole summer schedule has been laid out and you can find the calendar on the website, along with the registration form. I will explain a few things about the summer below, too. Also, as we continue to improve the youth group programs, I promise to communicate all changes and plans so no one gets left out. That being said, please let me know if you hear of anyone that does not receive this email each week since it is the first way I announce things often; such as…

We (AUMC) gathered 197 pairs of shoes for Soles for Souls! Thanks to everyone that donated these past weeks.

Bible Study Cookout this Wednesday night! All grades will be going to the Hall’s house for a time of fellowship and food. Meet by the bus at 5:45 and we will be back at 7:30. If you can drive your self and meet us there, that would be helpful to make sure we have enough seats. Their address is: 4306 Grand Oaks Dr. Kennesaw, GA. You don’t have to bring anything (so make sure you thank the Hall’s!). This is also the last week of Recharge. Wing-It Wednesday will start on May 30th.

Rendezvous ends this Sunday We will take the weekend of Memorial Day off from youth and start up Summer Bible Study on June 3rd. But come this week, 5:30-7 in the Attic for our last meeting with a chance to say thank you and goodbye to the seniors!

Summer things: As I mentioned, Wing-It Wednesday starts May 30th, our first summer activity. We will simply be hanging out in the Attic from 5:30-7 for fun and fellowship. Next is the Summer Kick-Off Lock-In on June 1st! Cost is $10 and you need to register by May 30th. After that, some of the things you’ll see on the calendar include: Bible Study on Sundays from 5:30-7:30 in the Attic (actual study will be 6-7ish with hangout time before and after), Open Attic at any point means come hangout at the posted time!, Wing-It Wednesdays are all listed as what we are doing…and most importantly we are helping with the Summer Lunch Program! On the days it is listed, we need 3-5 volunteers to pack lunches. This is our first step to getting more local service opportunities as we search for new and unique ways to help our community.

Culebra Bake Sale: We started off with a great week, earning around $460 for the trip! Thank you to all who brought sweets. We will be continuing the bake sale this Sunday. Please bring something if you can to sell and talk to Rebecca Gwin if you want to help man the table. As for the actual trip, if you are a student and considering coming, I need to know by THIS WEDNESDAY! All members already on the team should receive an email today about first payment and plane tickets.
